The way he falls in love with Castiel is like losing his footing.

He can pinpoint it exactly; his breath slowing, thick; heat bleeding out of him against the bedsheets. He’s naked; his legs are spread wide, and between them is Castiel, carefully edging a kiss against his inner thigh.

Castiel is murmuring as he opens his mouth against Dean’s hip, moving up his body. He presses the flat of his tongue to the skin there; laps at where come is drying from before, and murmurs softly at the action; kisses it after, gentle. A peck.

Dean cranes his neck to look down at him; the angel with his broad shoulders, his pale, clear skin, his face pressed to the scarred flesh of Dean’s abdomen, whispering god knows what in his low, quiet voice.

He falls.

The sensation rushes up, as if from beneath the bedclothes; love, like water pulling him down. He makes no sound.

Castiel crawls up his body and hovers his face over Dean’s. He dips down to kiss him. He says, “How much longer do we have?” And Dean can barely answer.

He draws a breath so embarrassingly awestruck that Castiel’s lips tip upwards in a smile.

“I don’t know.” He admits, words coming under a breath, and Castiel, eyes on Dean’s, curious, nods.

“Alright.” He says. He lowers himself to lie on Dean, chest to chest; tucks his head under his chin. Dean can’t breathe.

“Okay.” Dean says back, staring up at the ceiling. He lifts a hand; places it over the long line of Castiel’s spine. He draws a breath, shaky, his brain feeling fluid and useless. His fingers fit the dips of Castiel’s back like they were moulded to it. He says, again, though the angel hasn’t asked him anything; “Okay.”
